Key Performance Features

• High-Wide CHIRP (150-240 kHz): Provides exceptional target separation. You can clearly distinguish between two fish swimming close together or see your tiny tungsten jig as a distinct mark separate from the lake bottom.

• Wide Beam Width: Features a beam angle that can be adjusted or ranges between 16 and 24 degrees. This wider coverage is perfect for shallow to mid-depth water, giving you a larger "viewing cone" under the ice.

• Silicone-Coated Cable: The cable is specially engineered to remain flexible in sub-zero temperatures. Standard PVC cables become stiff and brittle in the cold; this cable stays limp, allowing the transducer to hang perfectly vertical.

• Vertical Hanging Design: The weight and shape of the transducer are balanced to ensure it stays level. It includes a foam float and grommet system to set the depth precisely just below the bottom of the ice.

• 4-Pin Compatibility: Designed for direct "Plug-and-Play" use with Garmin STRIKER, echoMAP, and GPSMAP units that utilize the 4-pin transducer port.

Ice Fishing Strategy

• Target Separation: Because of the high-frequency CHIRP, you can see "bottom-hugging" walleye or perch that standard transducers might miss. If there is a slight gap between the fish and the mud, the GT8HW-IF will show it.

• Jig Tracking: This transducer is sensitive enough to track 1/64 oz jigs. Adjust your "Gain" settings on your Garmin unit until your jig appears as a thin, solid line; you'll then be able to watch fish react to your presentation in real-time.

• Setting the Depth: Always position the transducer just an inch or two below the bottom of the ice. If it is too high (inside the hole), the ice walls can cause signal interference or "ghosting" on your screen.

Is your Garmin unit a 4-pin or 8-pin model?

The STRIKER series typically uses 4-pin, but many ECHOMAP UHD units use 8-pin or 12-pin ports. If you have an 8-pin unit, you will need a 4-pin to 8-pin adapter cable (010-12718-00).
