A very scarce anti-Methodist satirical poem written in response to a work titled The Dagon of Calvinism, or the Moloch of Decrees. The poem, in witty form, critiques Methodism and Arminianism, comparing it to the idolatrous practices associated with the ancient deity Dagon, with Dagon as a stand-in for "free will" etc., in contradistinction to Dagon being associated with the doctrines of God's sovereign decrees, i.e. Calvinism, in that work.
Wilson, Joshua. Episcopal Methodism; Or Dagonism Exhibited in Five Scenes. 1. Justice and Controversy. 2. Narrative and Fact. 3. Falsehood and Slander. 4. Ridicule and Scorn. 5. The Missionary Forestaller. Cincinnatie. Printed by J. Carpenter & Co. 1811. 84pp.
A good copy, bound in wraps, essentially disbound, with generally bright pages that are a bit handled.
