La Crosse claimed its place in organized baseball when the Pinks joined the Wisconsin-Illinois League in 1908. Class D ball meant small towns and smaller crowds, but it gave river cities like La Crosse a stake in the national pastime. Clubs like the Pinks were the foundation minor league baseball was built on. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Distressed coral arched text reads "LA CROSSE, WIS." above large coral script reading "Pinks" overlapping a vintage hand-drawn batter in mid-swing rendered in blue and coral with distressed texture. Coral text reading "1908" appears below the batter, followed by stacked blue and coral type reading "WISCONSIN-ILLINOIS LEAGUE, CLASS D BASEBALL CLUB."
