What is Hoof Care?

Many factors are responsible for your horse's hoof condition, including environment, previous hoof disease, and nutrition. Proper hoof care is essential including daily cleaning and proper trimming and proper shoeing. Bad hooves don’t just happen - they’re made. Through ignorance, poor farm management, and out-dated advice, many horse owners contribute to the conditions that can lead to thin, weak walls and cracked, chipped hooves. While experts disagree on whether genetics is a factor in weak-hooved horses, they do agree that for a large percentage of horses, these problems don’t have to happen.

Hoof Care is a specialized formula that features a rich source of Biotin in a matrix of many other nutritionally supportive ingredients. Sulfur-bearing amino-acids (Methionine and Cysteine) team up with important organic (chelated) micro-nutrients Zinc, Manganese, Copper, Iodine, the B-Vitamins, Thiamine and Folic Acid. We then blend these in an “active” base which includes kelp and a pre-historic ocean bed of minerals, which together are rich in a myriad of Trace Minerals, Amino Acid, Vitamins and Organic Silica. Herbs such as Horsetail provide Saponins, Calcium, Phosphorous, Organic Silica and Amino Acids. Finally Probiotics (beneficial naturally occurring micro-organisms) are supplied to help maintain optimum balance of flora in the intestine.
