Ajo Sacha — Mansoa alliacea
The great cleanser of the Amazon. A plant of clarity, courage and spiritual protection.
Ajo Sacha is one of the most widely used cleansing plants in Amazonian tradition. Despite its name — ajo means garlic in Spanish — it is not related to the garlic of the kitchen. What it shares is the pungent, sulphurous aroma that indigenous healers recognised as the signature of a powerful purifying medicine. In the Amazon, strong smell means strong medicine. Ajo Sacha clears.
Traditional Uses
Ajo Sacha is primarily a plant of energetic cleansing and spiritual protection. In Amazonian shamanism it is used to clear negative energies, remove blockages from the energy field and strengthen the aura against unwanted influences. It is one of the key plants used in preparation for deeper ceremonial work — particularly before working with Ayahuasca — purifying the body, mind and spirit so that the deeper medicine can be received cleanly.
It is also traditionally worked with during times of transition and personal change. When old patterns need breaking, when confidence has been eroded, when fear or self-doubt have taken hold — Ajo Sacha is a plant that restores inner strength and clarity. She is considered a plant of courage, helping you to stand in your own power and move through difficulty with groundedness and resolve.
Beyond its energetic uses, Ajo Sacha has a long history in Amazonian medicine for joint health, fever, digestive complaints and respiratory issues. It is considered anti-rheumatic and anti-inflammatory in traditional use.
As a dreaming plant, Ajo Sacha is also known to enhance dream recall and support lucid dreaming, particularly when worked with consistently over time. The dreams from Ajo Sacha are often insightful and clear visions to aid in ones journey.
The Spirit of Ajo Sacha
Ajo Sacha is considered a protective spirit — strong, clear and direct. Where Bobinsana opens and softens, Ajo Sacha cuts through. She is understood as a guardian plant, one that fortifies the energy field and stands at the threshold between the practitioner and whatever would diminish them. In dieta, she is known to be a serious and focused teacher — not unkind, but uncompromising. She shows you where you are giving your power away and hands it back.
About This Extract
Our Ajo Sacha extract is prepared as a 1:2 ratio — one part plant material to two parts organic Glycerine — using a blend of 70% stems and 30% leaves, wild-harvested from the Amazon. This precise formulation reflects the traditional understanding that the stems carry the strongest protective and cleansing properties, while the leaves contribute a broader spectrum of the plant's qualities.
Most tinctures on the market are made at a 1:5 ratio — one part plant to five parts liquid. Ours are made at 1:2 as standard, meaning significantly more plant per drop and noticeably stronger results.
Prepared in small batches by hand with care and respect for the plant and the tradition it comes from.
How to Use
5 drops under the tongue twice daily, away from food and drink. Hold briefly before swallowing. Ajo Sacha works well taken consistently over 4–8 weeks. Many find it most effective when taken with clear intention — particularly around what you are cleansing, releasing or strengthening in yourself.
Works well alongside breathwork, cold water practice, time in nature and any form of energy work or meditation.
