This t-shirt features Count Orlok (Nosferatu) emerging from the shadows with raised Hand.
Directed by German -Expressionist film-maker F. W Murnau & released in 1922, the film of Nosferatu is widely regarded as a classic of the Gothic-horror genre. The character of Nosferatu is so-named due to Murnau being unable to win the rights to make a film of Bram Stoker’s novel ‘Dracula’. To get around this snag, Murnau changed names & other details. Thus the ‘Dracula’ character is replaced by ‘Count Orlok’ the vampire, & referred to as ‘Nosferatu’ (literally ‘vampire’). He was played by the actor Max Schreck. The film is often cited as the prototypical vampire-movie & has been hugely influential in the Gothic-horror genre.
The film was the only major production to come from Prana Films, which had been founded in 1921 by Enrico Dieckmann & Albin Grau.
