About Chong Dzi Beads:

Dzi beads are ancient beads originating from Tibet. Similar to Etched Carnelian, they are crafted by baking natural dyes into agate to create intricate patterns. It is estimated that they were produced around the 1st to 6th centuries AD. However, much about these beads remains a mystery, including the composition of the dyes used. Predominantly found in Tibet, they are also discovered in Bhutan and regions of the Himalayas such as Ladakh. Different baked-in patterns are believed to hold various meanings, with the 'eye' pattern being particularly prized. In Tibet, they are considered amulets of wealth and prosperity, cherished and passed down through generations as treasured adornments. Recently, their popularity has risen in China, where they are known as "Tianzhu." While many replicas are made using similar techniques, authentic ancient Dzi beads are incredibly rare and valuable.
