Rare example of a black day dress from the first decade of the 20th century, this beauty pulls on overhead and features a high neckline, long sleeves, and a loose, smock like silhouette that can be tied with the matching sash tie at the rear, to bring it closer to the body. It might be meant for maternity wear. Neck is trimmed in delicately folded ribbon origami and offset with a narrower band of black lace. Matching lace is found in the sleeve cuffs. Top of chest has a series of pintucks and the empire waist seam displays a series of pleats running down the center of the dress. Closure is a series of hooks down the center of the back, masked by decorative buttons. Label: none Size tag: none, fits like a Large but adjustable Fabric: no tag, but feels like a dyed, natural cotton silk blend. Very soft. shoulders 14.5" sleeves 21" chest 38" waist 54" (with belt sash UNTIED) hips loose length 48"
Condition: very good with no stains or tears except on the lace trim at the cuff of the left sleeve. There is also one "eye" missing from the hook and eye closure at the rear. It is rare to find a dress form this period with only such minor issues.
