Designed for demanding broadcast environments, this compact fiber interface transforms compatible URSA cameras into fully featured studio systems connected over a single SMPTE hybrid fiber cable. By consolidating video, audio, power, talkback and camera control into one rugged connection, it allows cameras to be positioned up to 2 km from a studio or outside broadcast vehicle while maintaining uncompromised signal quality and operational safety.
At the camera end, this unit mounts directly to URSA Broadcast and URSA Mini models, adding familiar broadcast style controls to the rear of the camera. Operators gain immediate access to talkback, return video and additional audio inputs, making live production workflows faster and more intuitive. A single Ultra HD camera feed is carried alongside three independent HD return feeds, enabling confidence monitoring, program return and teleprompter or graphics feeds without additional cabling.
Using industry standard SMPTE 311M hybrid fiber with SMPTE 304 connectors, the system delivers power and data with built in multi layer safety monitoring. Continuous checks ensure that power is only delivered when the cable is operating within safe parameters, and power is instantly shut down if a fault is detected. This makes long distance camera placement practical even in public venues such as sports stadiums, theaters and large houses of worship.
The internal design supports all common HD and Ultra HD broadcast formats up to 2160p60 via 12G SDI, with automatic multi rate switching between HD, 3G, 6G and 12G SDI. Audio is handled at a professional 48 kHz, 24 bit standard, while video sampling is 4:2:2 with 10 bit precision in both Rec.709 and Rec.2020 color spaces. Firmware updates and configuration are handled through a USB C connection using the included Camera Utility software on macOS or Windows systems.
